This course aims to equip you with the skills of a financial analyst. Upon completion, you will be able to analyse the financial statements of various corporations (such as Microsoft, Google, Apple, McDonaldβs, etc.) to compare and contrast their performance, liquidity, and solvency, viewing them through the lenses of a manager, banker, or shareholder. Target audience: Junior professionals working in Finance and Accounting functions (professionals with higher degrees and several years of experience highly appreciate this course), current and potential investors in stock markets, current business students at any level: bachelors and Masters, start-ups and new entrepreneurs already managing or planning to open a business, and students who have previously studied accounting but wish to refresh their knowledge

Enrolled as an undergraduate student or holder of an undergraduate diploma, including those pursuing advanced studies or professional careers.
Although not mandatory, basic knowledge of accounting principles will be helpful
β’ Understanding financial statements and various analytical techniques, including vertical analysis, horizontal analysis, common-sized statements, and ratio analysis.
β’ Comparing financial statements of different corporations, utilizing real-world data from major companies such as Google and Microsoft (sourced from www.finance.yahoo.com and www.sec.gov/EDGAR).
β’ Performing Liquidity, Profitability, and Solvency Analysis for comparable corporations (e.g., Coca-Cola and Pepsi) using data from www.finance.yahoo.com.
β’ Applying DuPont identity and conducting DuPont Analysis to evaluate the performance of different functional divisions within a corporation, such as management, marketing, and finance.
β’ Conducting a comprehensive Financial Statement analysis for a chosen corporation. Students will work on the financial statements of their selected companies, accessing data from www.finance.yahoo.com, with guidance from the lecturer and instant feedback provided
