About

France has emerged as a key player in innovation and entrepreneurship in Europe, thanks to a dynamic ecosystem of incubators, venture capital, supportive public policies, and a thriving start-up culture. This module explores the unique characteristics of the "French Tech" movement, its successes, challenges, and strategies for creating, developing, and scaling start-ups in this vibrant context.

Students will discover how French entrepreneurs combine creativity, agility, and resilience to turn ideas into viable businesses, while navigating a complex regulatory and cultural environment. Special attention will be given to high-potential sectors (deep tech, green tech, fintech, etc.), innovative business models, and the importance of local and international networks and ecosystems.

Course Format & Learning Activities: 28 class hours plus company visits, workshops and group projects

For senior undergraduate (year 4) and graduate students (Master/MSc)

Concepts and Topics Covered:
β€’ The french tech ecosystem: key players, incubators, accelerators, and public policies
β€’ From idea to market: idea validation, business modeling, fundraising, and growth strategies
β€’ Start-up culture and leadership: agility, team management, and resilience in the face of failure
β€’ Innovation and disruption: how french start-ups are transforming traditional industries
β€’ Internationalization: strategies for entering foreign markets and attracting international investors

2800 EUR, Candidates are eligible to a special early-bird fee if they apply by March 1st, 10% discount will be granted. Three or more students enrolled in the program from the same institution will also benefit from a special rate, 15% discount. (The offered discounts are not cumulative)

Each student receives a two-day Lyon City Card with free access to 38+ activities to enjoy the city of Lyon
