This summer school is designed for postgraduate and doctoral students interested in collective bargaining systems and the contemporary regulation of labour relations across countries.
Course content explores interdisciplinary approaches drawn from law, sociology, economics and political science. During this summer school, students will compare collective bargaining and industrial relations systems. The objective is to develop interdisciplinary knowledge and methods relating to collective bargaining.
The summer school programme is built around problem-solving and democratic experimentalism to develop studentsβ capacity to design institutional innovations. Interactive workshops and real-world case studies complement the theoretical sessions
The course is designed for Master and doctoral students, as well as post-doctoral fellows from all disciplines with an interest in collective bargaining systems and the contemporary regulation of labour relations across countries (with priority given to candidates from law, sociology, industrial relations and labour economics).
The majority of lectures, discussions, and case studies are conducted in English and French. Candidates must possess a minimum of B2 level (or equivalent) in both languages. Proficiency in English and French is also essential as preliminary reading materials are provided in both languages.
Candidates are required to provide a CV, a cover letter detailing their project for attending the summer school
Throughout this summer school, renowned and engaged speakers will examine how comparative and interdisciplinary research can inform the regulation of labour relations and collective bargaining across countries. An inaugural lecture sets the scene, followed by structured discussions with guests from different legal systems and disciplines.
Workshops built around a practical βhard caseβ constitute the heart of the training. On the first afternoon, the teaching team will outline the working method and expected outcomes, then present the case while explaining the case-comparison approach. Once this in place, students will, in an interdisciplinary and comparative spirit, develop a diagnosis, craft arguments and run a simulated collective bargaining exercise
