(2026 LSS) Motivating Self and Others

About

Course introductory session (1h): Get-to-know each other, what we admire in leaders, how the course is mapped-out and graded.
Lectures (3h): You will learn about different kinds of psychological needs and how they drive your cognition and behaviour.
Lectures (3h): You will learn about the nature of contexts that activate your specific needs and how to detect the needs that drive the behaviour of others.
Lectures (3h): After understanding how activated needs drive human behaviour, you will learn about the reasons for procrastination and how to overcome the obstacles toward the rocky road toward your goal achievement.
Lectures (3h): You will learn about different types of mindsets, understand better your own mindset and capacity to function effectively in the very uncertain context (at work or elsewhere).
Lectures (3h): You will learn how to properly set and frame the goals to enhance your motivational potential.
Lectures (3h): You will learn how to properly set and frame the goals to enhance the motivational potential in others (at study, at work) so they can effectively accomplish set goals.
Lectures (3h): You will learn about the identity and reflected self, how they define or limited your authentic self-expression. You will do the identity map and Reflected Best Self exercise as a diagnostic tool to enhance your authentic self-expression.
Lectures (3h): Your will learn about attributes of stress, mental fatigue and emotional exhaustion with an aim to better manage stress, own energetic resources and become more resilient.
No lectures (day off)
Lectures (3h): You will learn about the core principles of influence, how to protect against them, how you can use them ethically in different contests.
Lectures (3h): This will learn about core tribal instincts—peer, hero, and ancestor—and how they influence our behaviour.
Final examination (Presentations): Presentations of roadmaps to more authentic and motivated self-expression (RBS exercise, identity map and application of other principles covered).

Course aim

- To understand own needs that drive your cognition and behaviour and to detect the needs of others that drive their cognitive efforts and behaviour.
- To understand reasons for procrastination and how to overcome the obstacles toward the rocky road toward goal achievement.
- To understand own mindset and capacity to function effectively in the very uncertain context (at work or elsewhere).
- To understand how to properly set and frame the goals to enhance your motivational potential and motivational drive-in others.
- To become more authentic expression of the self at study, work and other contexts.
- To manage stress and own energetic resources more effectively and design strategies for fast energetic recovery.
- To understand core principles of influence, how to protect against them, how you can use them ethically in different contests.
- To understand three tribal instincts—peer, hero, and ancestor—and how they influence our behaviour).
