This course explores the evolution of fashion in Paris from the 17th century to today. It highlights key figures, the link between theater and costume, and Paris’s role as the capital of high fashion. It also examines fashion in 19th-century literature and its modern circulation, from Vogue to TikTok.

Target group

The Sorbonne Summer University is open to anyone aged 16 or over who wants to learn something new or improve their knowledge (minors must have parental permission). The course cycles are preferably aimed at people with a minimum of two years’ higher education.

For all courses in French, the expected level proficiency is B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. However, no proof is required.
