The ELLIS Summer School on AutoML will bring together international experts and emerging talent in the field of automated machine learning in Dortmund from July 27 to 31, 2026.

AutoML is evolving rapidly—particularly due to the rise of foundation models and LLMs. The Summer School will address these developments and discuss both fundamentals and current research topics, including:

• Hyperparameter optimization and model selection
• Scaling and application of foundation models
• LLMs for efficient experimentation
• Agentic AutoML

The course is tailored for graduate and postgraduate students, research engineers, and industry practitioners. However there are no formal prerequisites; this event is open to anyone interested in learning more about AutoML.

The Summer School offers a concise and practice-oriented introduction to modern AutoML approaches and serves as a meeting place and networking opportunity for anyone interested in the next generation of intelligent ML systems.

Fee info

The fee includes admission to the lectures, meals on the days of the event, and social events. Travel and accommodation costs are not included. Application opens: March 25th, Application deadline: April 15th, Acceptance notifications: April 16th. 2nd application round opens: May 1st, 2nd round application deadline: May 31st. Open registration: June 15th-July 7th.
