"Science Survival Kit" Summer School is a unique opportunity to develop important research skills early in your career. Research skills are very diverse, ranging from article analysis and experimental design, to creativity and leadership skills. It is therefore crucial to introduce them in a systematic way from early in your studies, and to build on top of previously introduced skills to achieve their mastery.

Tamara Milosevic is the principal teacher and designer of the Science Survival Kit modules. After her PhD in biology, she designed innovative science courses (LabSprint, Biosensors, ...) and coordinated the Bachelor program Frontières du Vivant, Universit

Target group

The candidates need to fulfil the following criteria
- High motivation
- Completed high-school level education (baccalaureate, Abitur, Matura, etc.)
- The applicant may be enrolled as a student in an accredited university, but we welcome learners from all walks of life. If you're unsure, get in touch with us!
- Proficiency in English language (CEFR level B2)

Course aim

Since solving complex and global problems requires interdisciplinary experts, focusing on interdisciplinary topics is an important goal of the Science Survival Kit Summer School (SSKSS) curriculum. Workshop-based, intensive modules offer a chance to focus the attention on one topic through different approaches from different disciplines and points of view, taught by researchers from various fields. Dedicating an intensive time for an interdisciplinary topic in each module offers means to connect diverse scientific concepts and presents the participants with a unified view on science.

20 EC
Please note that no university certified document can be provided at the moment. We hope that in the future, the SSKSS may become a diploma-granting program. Check with your home university if you can be nevertheless granted some credits.

Fee info

EUR 1500: Participation Fee is for the whole six-week program. This covers:
- lab supplies, field equipment and mentoring
- accommodation in shared rooms
- lunches on course days


Participation fees may be lowered for exceptional candidates in need of financial support, but we kindly ask you to explore all funding options available to you.
