The Masoretic Text, the Septuagint and Early Jewish Biblical Exegesis
As part of a cooperation between Swiss and Russian universities, the Institute of Jewish Studies at the University of Bern hosts a summer school on the interplay of the Hebrew Bible, the Septuagint and Jewish-Hellenistic exegesis.
The scientific study of biblical texts is today a highly complex interdisciplinary enterprise. Accordingly, this summer school brings together scholars and students from different fields working on a variety of aspects of scripture and biblical exegesis. The program offers reading seminars to advanced students of Biblical and Jewish Studies with a working knowledge of Hebrew and Greek.
The seminars will take place at the University of Bern from 9 am to 1 pm and 2.30 pm to 4 pm. They will be led by scholars from the Institute of Jewish Studies in Bern and from the new program Bible Studies and the History of Ancient Israel at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow.
