Sounding City - Sonic Interventions and Storytelling for Liveable Urban Spaces
The Sounding City Summer School is offered in partnership with Struer Sound Art Lab and the sound art biennale, Struer Tracks.
The summer school will cover aspects of sound studies and urban studies and how these fields connect, and will introduce to participatory audience engagement and how public space can be a space for democratizing processes.
The focus of the summer school will be on how residents in urban quarters may interact with soundscapes and sonic interventions, and how the summer school participants will bring the understanding of these audiences / users / residents into conceptualizing, developing and producing digital and analogue sound pieces and stories for urban development and the everyday urban life.
Students will be introduced to theories of soundscapes and urban development and will be able to examine and analyse sound productions and urban spaces. Students will be introduced to working empirically with field recordings and with on-site interviews as well as to working in design thinking and maker processes.
