This course is focusing on the development of basic programming techniques, analytical thinking, comprehension of code and problem-solving skills achieved through a programming-based approach. It also focuses on developing programming skills relevant for personal and professional use. It provides theoretical and practical exposure to different programming technologies and programming concepts such as object-oriented programming.

This course supports OsloMet's ambition to drive progress on the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Among other things through innovation camp challenge.

Target group

This course is especially designed for people who do not have any previous experience with programming.

Students from any field, age and country are welcome to apply! The Summer School is hosted by the Department of Computer Science under the Faculty of Technology, Art and Design at Oslo Metropolitan University. Please check the home page for information regarding prerequisites for this course.

Course aim

On successful completion of this course the student is:

- able to format and write basic code
- able to identify and remediate bugs
- able to apply problem solving principles to the development computer programs
- able to solve and design solutions to (simple) programming problems
- proficient at efficiently translate solutions into computer programs

You can get 5 or 10 ECTS depending on which version of this course you choose.

The Summer School consists of 4-week intensive courses, where you will have the chance to take 5 or 10 ECTS credit courses. The 10 ECTS versions requires independent work in addition to the 4 weeks of Summer School.

Fee info

EUR 100: NOK 1000: All participants at OsloMet International Summer School must pay a summer school fee of 1000 NOK.

This covers participation, arrival service, welcome pack, social program, and excursions.
