This year, the Faculty of Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Geography and Geosciences is organizing the third Forster Summer School. This event offers Bachelor and Master students the opportunity to establish an international network and participate in interdisciplinary knowledge transfer. They get to know Mainz as a place to study and develop their language and cultural skills. The topic of the upcoming event will be Otto Hahn.

The discovery of nuclear fission by Otto Hahn has changed the world significantly since 1938. With his discovery, he involuntarily paved the way to the atomic bomb. After building and dropping the atomic bomb over Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Hahn finally became one of the greatest critics of nuclear armament during the Cold War. The Forster Summer School 2020 has therefore set itself the goal of focusing on the person and work of Otto Hahn and highlighting contemporary references such as the conflict between nuclear powers such as India and Pakistan, the USA and North Korea, and Iran.
