Innovative strategies to study education and care in a European perspective

online course
when 9 June 2021 - 10 June 2021
language English
duration 1 week

Public services, including education and care, account for a very large share of social expenditure throughout Europe, and have an important impact on inequality, poverty and the quality of life of European citizens. However, key comparative indicators of public services are still lacking. Therefore, in this expert workshop we will discuss gaps in data and indicators and research strategies to close these gaps. The expert workshop will focus in particular on the following issues: (1) the costs that households face for accessing compulsory education; (2) the accessibility of early childhood education and care. A new data collection effort to develop new comparative indicators, organised within the context of InGRID-2, will be discussed, as well as recent research advances by the broader research community.
