Day 1: Introduction to the technology. Industrial presentations. Workshop.
Day 2: Mechanical modelling basics. Unmodelled dynamics.
Day 3: E-m modelling, inner loops. Constructing plant models in Matlab.
Day 4: Amplifiers, sensors, inner loop control, outer loop control.
Day 5: Practical implementation of control.Lab demo.

Course leader

Main teacher is Adjunct Professor Rafal P. Jastrzebski. Second teacher is Professor Leonid Chechurin. Also there is an assistant PhD student in the practical part of the course.

Course aim

Aims: Students will gain knowledge in applications, modelling, construction, and control of AMBs and bearingless motors. After completing the course, they will be able to:
- Plan system design of AMB application,
- Conduct basic mechanical models,
- Construct and derive e-m models of actuators,
- Know system components and inner loop challenges,
- Design outer loop levitation controllers.
