Justchild Children, Sustainability and Social Justice

language English
duration 1 week
fee EUR 650

The Children, Sustainability and Social Justice Summer School aims to widen the perspective on sustainability, interrogating the role that children can and must have in projecting a fairer, sustainable world and investigating the deep, structural connections between education, social justice and sustainability.

Sustainability is a word that has been dominating debates on the future of mankind for many years now. Yet, public discussions on sustainability have progressively been narrowed to its technological dimension and the concept itself, once multifaceted and rich of deeply political implication, has been recaptured by the mainstream capitalist discourse. The current pandemic, however, showed how sustainability cannot be severed from issues concerning the justice of the polis and its future.

The Children, Sustainability and Social Justice Summer School will offer an international and interdisciplinary training programme for PhD students and early-career academics, with the aim to enhance knowledge on themes related to social justice, children and sustainability. It aims to create an environment conducive to critical thinking and to support exchange opportunities and methodological discussion. It will include lectures, seminars and group-work sessions led by scholars of national and international standing.
