Current Trends in Finance and Economics
In 'Current Trends in Finance and Economics you will embark on a journey through our monetary and financial system. Together we will explore how the system works today and discuss approaches on how to improve the system to make it more equal and sustainable. The programme consists of lectures and workshops provided by a broad range of speakers on a variety of topics such as the current state of the macro economy, the digitization of money, blockchain technology and integrated reporting.

Course aim
• The student can illustrate which skills, attitudes and knowledge they will require to rethink the future of economics and finance
• The student can identify the main drivers of income and wealth inequality within an economic system and, throughout an analysis, give recommendations to reduce inequality.
• The student can identify the main business models that sharing platforms currently deploy and is aware of the opportunities and risks these business models pose, as well as give practical recommendations on how platforms or regulators can reduce sharing risks.
• The student can identify the main new forms of digital money and is aware of the opportunities and risks these forms of money pose, as well as give practical recommendations how these forms of money should be regulated
• The student can analyse patterns in global macroeconomic factors and policies that drive international trade and business development.

EUR 1950: Accommodation and fees
We have secured accommodation within walking distance of The Hague University of Applied Sciences campus. Our accommodation includes both breakfast and dinner. You’ll be sharing a room and facilities with other The Hague Summer School participants.
Costs:
• Two-week summer school, including a shared room for 13 nights: €1.950.
• Four-week summer school, including a shared room for 27 nights: €3.750.
The fees above include tuition, study materials, field trips and a social programme.
Students from THUAS partner universities, summer school alumni and early birds get a €100 discount on the tuition fee.
N.B. If you secure your own accommodation, the fees will be as follows:
• Two-week summer school, excluding accommodation: €1.225.
• Four-week summer school, excluding accommodation: €2.175.
