The “Summer School in PhYsiology and Biophysics of WATer and Ion CHannels” SPYWATCH- 2nd Edition will be held from 18-22 July 2022. SPYWATCH will be open to 30 students with scientific training including, graduates, PhD students and post-docs interested in the biophysics of channel proteins. The Summer School will consist of keynote lectures, several activities both in the classroom and the laboratory (Calcium imaging; Patch clamp; Water transport assays; Super-resolution microscopy; FRET; 3D culture imaging analysis) and in a visit in one of the biggest Apulian companies in robotics applied to medical devices.

Course leader

Prof. Grazia Paola Nicchia, Full Professor of Physiology (BIO/09), Department of Bioscience, Biotechnology and
Biopharmaceutics, University of Bari Aldo Moro, Bari (IT) and Visiting Professor, Neuroscience Department, A. Einstein College of Medicine (NY)

Target group

The course is open to graduate students, PhD students and post-docs with a scientific (biology, biotechnologies, chemistry) background.

Course aim

The objective of the course is to provide theoretical and practical knowledge on latest generation biophysics techniques, useful in the study of the molecular mechanisms underlying water and ion channel physiology and physiopathology.
