Since 2018, UNESCO has included "the art of dry-stone walls" on its list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of humanity. This recognition underlines once again the importance of these structures in the global architectural culture of the landscape. This technique offers a concrete example of the harmonious relationship between man and nature. Since ancient times, in fact, drywall has played a crucial role in the prevention of landslides, in the fight against erosion, in the creation of arable land in inaccessible areas and in preserving the environment by creating special bio-climatic conditions for agriculture and biodiversity protection. The transmission of the knowledge of the old craftsmen to the new generations is a very interesting opportunity. The handing down of this ancient construction technique can preserve the historical memory of the landscape in the perspective of a conscious and sustainable modeling of the environment around Cascina Crocetta, headquarters of Banca del Fare’s summer school.
