Advertising is ubiquitous in developed economies, influencing consumer choices, firm strategy, and resource allocation. This course examines the three primary economic views of advertising that have developed over the last century, with an emphasis on the welfare implications of each view. Specific topics related to advertising are then examined thought an economic lens – e.g., advertising and product quality and advertising and privacy.
