The European Summer Program is a four-week intercultural and interactive academic course for international students who want to discover France and Europe. It has taken place in June and July every year since 2001, in Lille, in the north of France, welcoming students and professors from around the world to the Université Catholique de Lille, at the heart of Europe.

Students can register for one or both sessions:
- ESP1: 22 May to 20 June 2024
- ESP2: 26 June to 24 July 2024

Students take one of the three general morning courses (“French Language and Culture”, “Project Management for Everyone” or “Understanding Challenges of Climate Change”) and a sustainability/science-themed elective, taught in English, in the afternoon. Examples of such electives:
- Sustainable Cities
- Current Practices in Renewable Energy
- Brewing Technology and Marketing: the Nordist Expertise
- Launching your Impact Venture

Course aim

The LILLE (Learn In Lille, Live Europe) Programs aim to offer a diverse selection of innovative academic courses to international students. In accordance with the holistic approach of the university, the LILLE programs emphasize the student experience as well as the cultural and intercultural aspects of academic learning. The LILLE programs offer personalized service and support to students in a healthy and safe atmosphere.

Courses are based on practice-based learning methods, such as discussions, case studies, workshops, team projects, and site visits vary on the subject.

In addition, numerous cultural activities are organized for students throughout the program to introduce them to different aspects of life in France and Europe. Movie nights, field trips with guided city tours and visits to the most famous sites in France and Belgium, French and international dinners, workshops… not to mention the opportunity to become part of ESP alumni and meet new friends from all over the world!

Credits info

12 EC
Students receive and validate 12 ESTC Credits per session, which corresponds to 6 North American Credits.

Fee info

EUR 3450: This full package includes tuition and administration fees, course materials, accommodation in single rooms in fully equipped residence halls, an orientation program and 24/7 support, lunches in the student cafeteria, access to university facilities, unlimited monthly transportation pass for transit in Lille, and various planned cultural activities and visits in Lille, field trips in France and Belgium.

10% discount for Partner Universities and for students attending both sessions.

Optional:
- Additional 1-Day / Weekend guided field trips to Paris, Normandy, Nausicaa, Reims, Amiens, and World War I Sites at extra costs (refer to the website for more information).
- Health and Travel Insurance (EUR 100 for students 25 years old and under, EUR 150 for students 26 years old and older).
