Tis course focuses on human rights in theory and practice. Students will develop knowledge about human rights both from legal and social science perspectives. Challenges for implementing human rights in different parts of the world will also also be highlighted and examined. Building on the normative and institutional framework of international human rights, contemporary issues relating to terrorism, religion, ethnicity, indigenous peoples, women and development are studied.

The course is offered in collaboration with the Norwegian Center for Human Rights, Faculty of Law, University of Oslo.

Target group

Minimum a BA degree in law or a relevant social science discipline. Professional or personal engagement in human rights activities is preferred.
