This course offers a comprehensive overview of the key players of tourism, such as destinations, tour operators and travel agencies, airlines, cruises, railways, and the hotel industry as well as their contribution to tourism. The course does not only focus on the principles and forms of the different service providers, but also on the economic and sustainable challenges the players have to face due to new trends and developments in the industry based on various case studies.

Course leader

Gabriele Tragschitz-Köck is a self-employed entrepeneur who collaborateon projects like he EXPO 2020 in Dubai and the F1 Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi. She is a senior professor at Modul Tourism School and College in Vienna.

Target group

BSc and MSc students, recent graduates working or planning to work in tourism.

Course aim

Upon completion of this course, students can:

- understand contemporary issues and approaches in transport and tourism in the twenty-first century
- analyze the human and environmental impact of tourism towards sustainable tourist travel
- think responsibly about the development and current trends of international tourism
- discuss the importance of marketing planning in tourism
- delineate global challenges for tourism and transport: how will climate change and energy affect the future of tourist travel.

Fee info

EUR 360: Ordinary fee. It includes: participation in one course, evening talk, certificate of participation, transcript for ECTS transfer (if requested, Wifi on campus , welcome reception.
Fee does not include: accommodation, travel to Budapest, local transportation, health insurance.
EUR 270: Early bird fee until 31 May 2023.
