Narrative Medicine and the Doctor-Patient Relationship

when 3 July 2023 - 6 July 2023
language English
duration 1 week
credits 1 EC
fee EUR 100

Narrative medicine began as a theoretical and practical discipline with the goal of enhancing medical care by improving physicians' ability to receive and understand patients' descriptions of themselves. Students attending this module will understand how the experiences experienced by patients affect their (patients') health and special emphasis will be placed on the relationship created between them (doctor-patient). Practicing medicine of this type encourages patients to tell their story which in turn helps doctors to treat the disease more effectively by making use of the information they gather.
