blended course
when 17 August 2023 - 23 August 2023
duration 1 week
credits 10 EC

Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics of Gdańsk Tech invites international students to the second edition of an intensive hybrid school on Quantum Chemistry - Quantum and Molecules III (QUEUE III), organized within the ScienceApp project.

The event will be held this summer, between 17 and 23 August, 2023. QUEUE III is perfect for all young scientists and students who wish to learn the basics and the advances in quantum ideas and methodologies, along with their practical applications in
chemistry, electrochemistry, and material sciences. Tutorials will be followed by laboratory classes, during which students will learn how to
perform quantum-chemical computations. They will have a chance to solve nontrivial computational problems from scratch using a supercomputer and quantum software. In addition, they will learn the multiconfigurational methods - getting the next level of skills in
quantum-chemical computations. During laboratory classes, students will visualize molecular structures and the orbitals - the outcome of their computations. QUEUE III will be run in a hybrid mode (in-person and online). Participation in this intensive program is free of charge. Fifteen non-Polish students will be awarded a fellowship to partially reimburse the costs of the travel and living in Gdańsk. All Participants will receive a diploma certifying acquired skills and learning outcomes, as well as, ECTS credits collected
during the training.

Classes will be delivered by Prof Marek Czachor and prof Maciej Bobrowski - the chair of the QUEUE III Summer School. In addition, activities related to the history of Gdańsk and its culture will be provided by Prof Justyna Borucka, from the Faculty of Architecture, and the
European Solidarity Centre. ScienceApp project is run within the frame of the SPINNAKER program - Intensive International Curricula, organized by the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA), financed by the European Union under the Knowledge Education Development Operational Program (Action 3.3. Internationalization of Higher Education). The budget of the project is PLN 726,900.00. ScienceApp aims to attract talented international students and young researchers to Gdańsk Tech.
