The VASCERN Summer School is an educational activity that aims to train young doctors on the subject of rare vascular diseases, as well as to perpetuate and expand the network’s objectives to the new generation of healthcare professionals in Europe.

The organization of the VASCERN Summer School has received financial support from the ERASMUS+ Blended Intensive Program (BIP). The BIP requires the combination of physical mobility with a virtual component. Therefore, the VASCERN Summer School will consist of a part on site and a part online.

- The online module of the VASCERN Summer School will last for a total of 15 weeks, from February to May 2024.

- The on-site part of the VASCERN Summer School will take place in Paris from September 23 to 28, 2024.

Course leader

All courses will be taught by experts in rare vascular diseases and patient representatives in VASCERN. VASCERN is the the European Reference Network (ERN) on Rare Multisystemic Vascular Diseases, https://vascern.eu/.

Target group

The target group for this Summer School are medical students (undergraduate, masters or PhD level) or intern at a European university.

If you would like to apply, please send your updated CV and a letter of motivation to erasmus@vascern.eu before November 19, 2023. A selection committee consisting of rare vascular disease experts and VASCERN patient representatives will review your application. The results of the selection process will be communicated before the end of 2023.

Course aim

The aim of this program is to increase participants' awareness of rare vascular diseases as well as inspire them to become experts
of these diseases in the future.

The course also aims to expand and perpetuate the goals of VASCERN to the new generation of healthcare professionals, as well as to reach the widest possible European geographical coverage. The VASCERN Summer School will also allow countries that do not have a national plan for rare vascular diseases to be connected to our network and its activities.
