The winter school From Mine to Finger. A deep dive into the world of Diamonds is a collaborative effort of three distinguished partners: the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC), the University of Antwerp, and the renowned Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).

This isn't your ordinary winter school; it is an extraordinary opportunity to delve deeply into the multifaceted diamond industry, all set against the captivating backdrop of South Africa, a nation deeply connected to the allure of these precious gems.
Course is organised by University of Antwerp, but the on-campus component of the course will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The winter school is designed for final year Bachelor students and Master students from different disciplines, as well as for junior professionals and researchers, interested in deepening their knowledge about diamonds and its industry.
After a series of successful editions in Antwerp, this year marks a milestone as we proudly introduce the very first South African edition of this programme. Join us on an exhilarating journey into the world of diamonds in South Africa, where we will explore the industry from a fresh and unique perspective.
Mark your calendars for the live week, taking place from 5 - 14 February 2024 at and around the GIBS Business School in Johannesburg, South Africa, and anticipate an interesting preparatory online module that equips you with essential insights. These preparatory talks, readings, and clips can be absorbed at your own pace, ensuring that every participant is well-prepared for the upcoming course.
Successful completion of the winter school can be awarded with 3 credits according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). Credits will be awarded by the University of Antwerp on the base of attending the preparatory track, 100 % (active) participation during the course and group work and submission of an individual paper after the course.
EUR 600: For this edition, the fee includes the online preparatory modules and all lectures, tutoring and workshops, coffee, tea and lunch breaks, course material, on-site visits and excursions, a welcome dinner on the first evening and a closing reception on the last day.
