The students understand the complexity of climate change and business. Combining lecture and interactive exercises the students learn about the science behind climate change (greenhouse gases, their relationship to weather and climate) and how climate change will affect different regions of the world and which actions can be taken. The students learn about how theoretical lenses to analyze climate change and business (examples could be Resource Based View and Dynamic capabilities). The students will analyze the climate change actions of a company.

This is a bachelor level course. CBS Summer University courses at Copenhagen Business School is open to all and welcomes domestic and international students as well as professionals.

Course aim

Understand what greenhouse gases are, and their relationship to weather and climate

Understand how the climate is likely to change and how this will affect business in different regions of the world and possible actions related to climate change

Analyze the climate responses of companies by applying theory (e.g., (natural/social) resource-based view and capabilities, socio-technical systems, and technology transition) to address societal challenges and analyze voluntary and mandatory business responses
