In this course we will be exploring the intersection between art and architecture in the city. The course will combine lectures, In this course we are exploring the intersection between art and architecture in the city. The course will combine lectures, excursions, slideshows and discussions on topics related to urban space and public art. This process is accompanied by showing information about the symbiosis of art and architecture in the cities like Berlin, Graz and Auckland. Theme of the roll of monuments in public space is addressed as well.
Students will be asked to develop and produce a small-scale art/architecture public intervention/solution/transformation in Vienna. For each student, the selection of themes, location and media is open-ended. For this project a wide range of media techniques will be encouraged including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, or text. Students will work individually. The result of the studio will be presented at the final exhibition.
