Molecular Epidemiology of the Exposome and Chronic Disease
The course covers the following aspects:
- Introduction to the platforms that are available for the analysis of molecular markers in epidemiological studies.
- Introduction to the considerations that are important when setting up a molecular epidemiological study.
- Introduction to the statistical methods available for the analysis of molecular epidemiological studies.
- Practical examples of molecular epidemiological studies.
These components are addressed through lectures, computer practicals, and group discussion. Background materials that cover theoretical aspects of molecular epidemiology will be provided.

Target group
The target audience for this course are MSc and PhD students with an interest in Exposome research and a background in epidemiology. Students and professionals from outside Utrecht University are welcome. For the computer labs we will use R statistical software. Some experience on working with this software is recommended. Due to the international nature of the course, it is taught in English.
