At the Summer School on IT Law and Legal Informatics 2024, a panel of renowned experts will offer participants an insight into cutting-edge research from the fields of IT Law and Legal Informatics.

Topic areas:

The Summer School on IT Law and Legal Informatics 2024 covers three topic areas:


- Artificial Intelligence
- Data
- IT-Security

Each of the three topic areas will comprise several lectures by highly qualified researchers or practitioners and may include presentations by participants covering elements of their own research project. The concept of the Summer School is profoundly interdisciplinary, thus aiming at offering insights into both, computer science research and closely connected legal questions.

Furthermore, the Summer School includes an impressive social program during which participants will explore the Saarland and surroundings and can get to know each other in an informal setting allowing for establishing friendships around the globe.

Institute of Legal Informatics:

The Institute of Legal Informatics at Saarland University is one of Germany‘s leading research institutions in the area of IT Law and Legal Informatics.

Target group

- Graduated young researchers and practitioners from law studies and legal informatics
- Graduated young researchers and practitioners from further disciplines with a relevant interest in IT law and legal informatics
- Undergraduates of the named disciplines with a special interest in research, if we can offer spare places
- An essential prerequisite for participation is an outstanding interest in cross-disciplinary and international collaboration

Course aim

The Summer School will enable researchers and practitioners from all over the world to gain an insight into cutting-edge research topics in the area of IT Law and Legal Informatics. Young researchers are invited to present and discuss elements of their own research at the Summer School. This will give them a unique opportunity to discuss their ideas in plenary and to benefit from a most fruitful exchange of thoughts with established experts and young scholars.

Furthermore, the Summer School will give participants an opportunity to explore the Saarland and surroundings and get to know each other in an informal setting.

Fee info

EUR 495: The registration fee amounts to €495 per participant. This fee covers registration for all sessions, the social program, as well as any refreshments during the sessions.

The registration fee for participants attending less than 3 topic areas will be reduced proportionally:

2 topic areas: €400
1 topic area: €200
EUR 0: Costs for travelling to Saarbrücken, accommodation, food and beverages (except during the welcome reception, the Summer School BBQ and the farewell party) are not included in the participation fee.
