There will be 3 central course contents: Linguistic typology, syntax, and modality. The course on Linguistic Typology will focus on deictic and anaphoric techniques in Germanic versus East Asian Languages. The course on syntax will treat the left periphery of the sentences. The course on modality is devoted to epistemicity, evidentiality, and covert patterns of modality in German vs. Japanese.
