The Summer school will provide a mixture of:

Lectures in the field of energy (with focus on energy-efficiency, renewable energies, smart cities and communities, actual problems and tendencies in the field of energy in the respective country), lectures and presentations by experts from universities of Ukraine and other European countries. In addition, the content of the summer school will be designed by the participants themselves in the form of lectures and presentations.
Wide space for discussions and scientific dialog between students of different European countries with specific focus on the field of energy supply (Germany, Ukraine, Slovenia, Romania and Poland).
Group work to find common solutions.
„Plan games” (simulations) on specific problems in the field of energy.
Excursions to Energy Power Stations (Gas Power Station Odessa), places with examples of renewable energies in Ukraine (photovoltaics, geothermal energy, etc.) and excursion to the exhibition “Center of Energy-efficient Technologies” at the ONPU in Odessa.
Language classes (basics in Russian or Ukrainian language).

Students in the field of engineering, energetics and other related fields

Course aim

- The students get an overview of current tendencies in alternative energies, energy efficiency and current corresponding legislation from probably four European countries (according to the participants of Germany, Ukraine, Slovenia, Poland, Romania and others).
- They acquire an impression of the geographical, geological, climatic, geopolitical, social and societal influences on political decisions in the field of energy.
- Especially they learn the specific situation in the field of energy in Ukraine (dependency of Ukraine on gas, coal and uranium, inefficient use of energy – reasons, expansion of alternative energy as a technologic solution, Ukraine as an energy transit-country, etc.).

EUR 500: Accommodation in cottages of the recreation center and full board during 14 days.
Transfer to the recreation center.
Cultural Excursions (Sightseeing in Odessa, visit of the castle in Belhorod Dnistrovsk etc.).
Sports program.

Scholarships

Students enrolled at German universities can apply for a scholarship by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD – Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) as a part of the Go-East-Summer Program. For more information visit the official website.
