Dubrovnik Summer School of Emergency Medicine
This is a project that brings together students from all around the world interested in gaining and exchanging knowledge in the field of emergency medicine. The school will take place in Dubrovnik, Croatia, from July 30th until August 6th 2018.
The main theme of the project is emergency medicine and it consists of the following topics:
• Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ILS course conducted by ERC instructors)
• Traumatic Brain Injury
• Basic surgical skills
• Paediatric emergencies
• Management of trauma patient
• Diverse emergencies (drowning, poisoning, hypothermia, etc.)
• Principles of critical medical thinking
It is organised by EMSA Zagreb and Student Section of Croatian Medical Association of Zagreb.
Medical students who have obtained a bachelor’s degree or have completed a minimum of three years of medical studies
The aim of the summer school is to renew and expand his/her knowledge, as well as master new skills. The scientific part is composed of lectures, interactive seminars, practical skills and daily cases held by leading experts in the field of emergency medicine.
After lectures each day, planned for you are daily activities which allow you to experience the city’s ancient architecture and Mediterranean charm. Sightseeing in small groups and our “City Run” scavenger hunt allow you to network and improve your team working skills inside the old city walls. We take a trip to neighbouring island, where you have time to visit the beaches and go cliff jumping. And of course, there is plenty of free time to go do whatever you please. Whether you enjoy shopping, trying Croatian cuisine, or kayaking with others, you have several opportunities to experience something new in the beautiful city of Dubrovnik.
Lectures officially conclude on August 6th with a written exam and a certificate of attendance, which is handed to each participant at a ceremonial gala dinner.
EUR 650: Participation fee is EUR 650,00 (app 4.830,00 HRK) and in that price the following is included:
Accommodation (7 days and 7 nights)
Food (3 meals a day; breakfast, lunch, dinner)
Course (with all learning materials and final exam)
Trip to Island Lokrum
Access and participation in social programme as defined in the agenda
Gala dinner in the Dubrovnik old city
Internationally recognized ILS certilicate issued by ERC (European Resuscitation Council)
If you (for some reason) have to cancel your registration you can get refunded:
100% of the fee you paid if you cancel before and including May 15th 2018
50% of the fee you paid if you cancel before and including June 1st 2018
25% of the fee you paid if you cancel before and including June 15th 2018
Failure to attend the course or canceling after 15.7 will not result in any type of refund. The refund transfers will be made with all costs for the receiver.
