Would you like to live an enriching experience of free creativeness in strict contact with nature, history and contemporary art, discussing and working among number of artists, philosophers, designers and scientists, absorbed in the genius loci of Etruscan landscape north of Rome?
an intriguing dimension rests in the midst of landscape, history, archaeology and modern fluxus of artistic expression. In Summer 2015 you can join us for two weeks of stimulating and creative experience.
“ART – ENVIRONMENT - HERITAGE: Italy the new etrurian landscape is a non conventional course, rather it’s a meeting of talents and a workshop of free minded artists, designers and scholars.
And why etrurian land? In addition to QDU excellent art and design department, the site is a great place for a summer experience. We’re right in the heart of the etrurian country full of cultural heritage above and below ground, the coast and all Italy’s major attractions within easy reach.
We provide attendants from home and abroad with a real experience of living and experiencing in Italy, in a lively region rich in witness to history, famous for its ancient centres, caves and countryside.
In particular the workshop is focused on the realization of art installations close to the archaelogical sites of Cerveteri and Tarquinia. The aim is to demostrate the winning role of contemporary art in adding value to landscape and heritage.
Attendants will meet and work in Viterbo, the medieval town north of Rome rich of historical heritage in the middle of etrurian country, in work shops made available by University of Tuscia
The summer programme includes:
Analysis of etrurian landscape morphology; evaluation of present status of archaelogical districts (Cerveteri and Tarquinia): This experience will explore the concept of art and installation as heritage development. Through the analysis of interaction between architectural witness, site morphology, artistic programme and land use. It will introduce you to the concept of environmental art and how it can be used to explore the relations with history. We will use all the disposable media: from free hands to computer generated images to identify spatial activity, infrastructure and the built form.
Architectural Model Making: on this practical course you will experience new model making skills to put forward in the future. Your final work will be ideal for adding to your portfolio as well as improving your knowledge of art/architecture/landscape/design. In the meantime you will also develope ideas and methods towards creating original material, inspired by the numberless natural and cultural environments all around.
Course also includes:

Local administrations, archaeological Superintendence are involved in the programme and public exibition of the final works is provided

This programme is aimed at students or new professionals who wish to broaden and enrich their design experience in environmental art. with projects incorporating influences particular to each archaelogical plot. Studio sessions will be supported by visits to places in Rome and in famous etrurian district to gather research material.Â
Entry criteria
To attend this practical course participants must submit a portfolio of realized works, researches, relevant to prove skills
The aim of the programme is to provide an international experience of diving in artistic, architectural and historical thinking today whilst exploring our rich environmental history.
To develop critics and technical skills in order to complete diverse types of design projects. Enance capability to develop “creative concepts”. To forward overview of the role and position of the “art designer”; Develop a historic perspective of the intersection of Italian design systems heritage exploitation; Translate own ideas into a design for presentation; Produce technically correct and interesting designs using the free-hand sketching together with advanced digital methods and 3d models.
