This introductory undergraduate module offers a comprehensive exploration into the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), specifically designed for students with diverse backgrounds. Spanning a period of three weeks, participants will be introduced to fundamental AI concepts and techniques, ranging from basic machine learning principles to advanced neural networks and ethical considerations. Through a mix of interactive lectures, hands-on coding exercises, and practical case studies, students will not only acquire a theoretical understanding of AI but also develop practical skills in data pre-processing, model implementation, and ethical decision-making. The module serves as a platform for students to delve into AI's potential and ethical dimensions, cultivating insights into its applications across industries and nurturing a curiosity for further AI study.

Applicants must have completed a minimum of one year of undergraduate study in any subject area by the time they enrol on the module.
Remember and understand the basics of machine learning, and neural networks: Recall key concepts and definitions related to machine learning, and neural networks. Describe the fundamental principles underlying AI technologies.
Apply data pre-processing techniques to prepare datasets for AI models: Demonstrate the ability to use various data pre-processing methods to clean and format datasets for AI model training. Implement data transformation and feature engineering techniques effectively.
Analyse and evaluate different AI algorithms and their applications: Critically assess the strengths and weaknesses of various AI algorithms for specific tasks. Compare and contrast the suitability of different algorithms for different real-world applications.
Evaluate ethical considerations and potential biases in AI applications: Assess the ethical implications and societal impacts of AI technologies. Identify potential sources of bias and discrimination in AI systems and propose mitigation strategies.
Apply and create practical experience in implementing simple AI models: Design and build simple AI models to solve specific problems or tasks. Develop
innovative solutions using AI techniques and apply them to practical scenarios.
