Biourbanism: Designing a Home of Language

The school gathers fantastic people from all over the world to live together in the ancient Italian village of Artena, located 35 km south of Rome. Keynote lectures, workshops, artistic practices, a day trip, book presentations, concerts, sketch sessions, local interactions, mules, and delicious food will make the time fly while learning a real practice of biourbanism.

Best-selling author of The Battle for Home and Prince Claus Fund for Culture and Development 2018 Laureate Arch. Marwa al-Sabouni (Syria) discusses social conflict and post-war reconstruction. The father of bioclimatic architecture, Prof. Arch. Sergio Los (Italy), offers a praxis on designing an Out-of-Market City while artist and biourbanist Prof. Arch. Marco Casagrande (Finland) builds a communal sauna with the participants. Artist practices and lectures from Turkey, Greece, Italy, the U.S., and the U.K. will be held throughout the piazzas of this ancient hilltop town that prohibits cars, and where mules manage the transportation and recycling.
