The first week of the course will be held in person in Copenhagen, while the second week will include one online-based class.
The course offers an introduction to the complexity of climate change and business. Combining lectures and interactive exercises the students learn about the science behind climate change (greenhouse gases, their relationship to weather and climate), how climate change provides risks and opportunties for business, and which actions can be taken. The students take theoretical lenses to analyze climate change and business (e.g., stakeholder theory). The students will in groups analyze a self-chosen company to identify climate cange related risks and opportunties as well as provide recommedations for the future.
Description of the teaching methods
Students will learn and apply theories, methods and tools applied to real cases, and hands-on course activities.
Teaching methods will consist of: interactive lectures, student participation and presentations complemented by scientific articles, practitioner articles, interactive exercises and group work to understand climate change and business.
Learning objectives
After the course, the student can:
Identify climate-change-related risks for companies
Analyze the impact of companies on climate change
Analyze a case company regarding its risks and opportunities related to climate change
Critically evaluate and reflect on their case to develop managerial implications
