Throughout this intensive study course you will supported by the expert teachers of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. This team of experienced performers and practitioners is of world- renown and their teaching practice is well established within the UK conservatoire setting.
Each day participating ensembles will have the chance to study and rehearse intensively, take part in two hours of coaching with highly respected and experienced chamber musicians and teachers and dedicate additional time to research, rehearse and study together.
While the course will be in relaxed and informal it will also be challenging and rewarding, with opportunities to enhance your knowledge of both contemporary and traditional repertoire, rehearsal and performance styles and genres.
Day time practice and rehearsal will be balanced with the opportunity to perform informally in the evening as well as share developments with the other participating ensembles.
A full course outline can be found on our website.
Robert Irvine Robert is a Senior Professor of Cello and Chamber Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow. He studied at the Royal College of Music where he won most of the major prizes in chamber music and solo playing.
This five-day summer school is for existing chamber ensembles who wish to study intensively together and alongside other string trios, quartets, quintets and sextets in the development of high quality performance practice.
Please note that we will be able to incorporate piano trios and quartets, etc. on request.
Each music ensemble will have the opportunity to invest in their rehearsal and performance relationship in a well-supported and challenging professional training environment.
By the end of the course, each ensemble should have:
• explored new repertoire, rehearsal and performance styles
• examined and invested further in the uniqueness of your own performance style and purpose
• developed confidence as a performing ensemble
• created opportunity to observe and perhaps work collaboratively with other participating ensembles
