Research for whom? Whose knowledge counts? How can we make research practices more inclusive? And how can Citizen Science contribute to solving societal challenges?

We are back with the 5th edition of our Citizen Science School series! This summer school focuses on the topic “Co-Creating Knowledge: Transforming Research Through Citizen Science”.

This summer school is truly transdisciplinary: Citizen Science projects exists in all fields, from architecture, language studies, economics, cultural studies to geography, history, natural sciences, or psychology.

Citizen Science invites us to rethink whose voices are (un)heard in research and how diverse perspectives shape the production of knowledge. Knowledge emerges in many places and forms – so how can we integrate different bodies of knowledges to co-create research practices and drive meaningful societal change?

Are you interested in Citizen Science and its participatory approaches? Are you a Master’s student, doctoral candidate, postdoc, or practitioner aiming to develop a Citizen Science project idea? Or are you already planning or implementing a project? This programme will give you the tools and methods to take your Citizen Science journey further

Course aim

At this Summer School of the University of Zurich, you will develop the skills and mindset needed to plan and carry out a Citizen Science project - whether you are an academic researcher, practitioner, or a citizen scientist. The program not only introduces methods and tools but also challenges you to reflect on whose knowledge counts, who research is for, how inclusion can be fostered, and how Citizen Science can contribute to societal change
