In the context of the effects of the climate change, the study of phenomena related to glacial ablation and the permafrost melting is important in order to understand the main environmental effects on alpine territories, in relation also to the decreasing of snowfall volumes and the relations with the local economy.
The main goal of the summer school is to introduce the "learning by doing" approach:
• learn to detect, process, analyze and integrate data coming from different input platforms (satellite, UAV, in situ surveys, etc.) in order to assess the effects of climate change on glaciers and snow cover;
• analyze structural/non-structural measures in order to mitigate the avalanche risk;
• suggest working group in order to ensure the skills integration in the processing of the data collected.
This Summer School will explore the potential of freely available satellite data and derived information products focusing on ICE and SNOW.
Participants benefit from the expertise of specialists from prestigious research institutes and universities, and renowned experts, while interacting with professionals and students coming from all over the world makes it a unique forum to exchange experiences and share opportunities.
Master/PhD students, professionals (Engineers, Geologists).
