The Summer School "Compliant Mechanisms in Design" aims to provide the trainees with an introductory background to compliant mechanisms, their design and construction. Compliant mechanisms are a modern field of design engineering and materials science, both with respect to research and commercial applications, offering significant advantages over conventional mechanisms of fixed structures. During the course, the trainees will encounter the particularities and challenges of incorporating compliant mechanisms in Design through redesigning everyday objects. Moreover, they will acquire basic skills in modelling, analyzing, simulating as well as manufacturing compliant mechanisms with the use of innovative technologies such as additive manufacturing. At the end of the course, the trainees will have the opportunity to present the process of producing design solutions and evaluate the benefits of this new design paradigm.
