The programme consists of a mixture of lectures, interactive exercises, skills and scenario-based activities, equipping participants with a realistic introduction to the challenges they are likely to face in the field. The course will be based on a case-study country, Carana, which the UN and World Bank use for their own in-house training.
Topics of study include: Human rights and humanitarianism, Protection of Civilians, Human Rights Reporting, International Law Mechanisms and Diplomacy and International Law.
Human Rights Centre, University of Essex The course will be taught by Dr. Conor Foley, a leading practitioner in the field of Human Rights and Humanitarian aid.
