About

Within the framework of the Jean Monnet Module "CoMe CircLe" (2023-2026), the University of Udine (Italy) organizes the 19th Summer School on 'Consumer and Market Law in the European Circular Economy', in cooperation with a consortium of European universities, now including University of Essex (UK), Universitatea de Vest din Timisoara (Romania), East Anglia University (UK), University of Rijeka (Croatia), University of Belgrade (Serbia) and University of Szeged (Hungary).

The 2026 Summer School will consist of 40 hours of lectures, a workshop and a moot court. It aims to provide a comprehensive training on the legal discipline of consumer protection and market regulation in the European Union Law, with a particular reference to circular economy, taking into account the following relevant topics:
1) Consumer protection and empowerment issues;
2) Private international law issues;
3) Dispute resolution and redress issues;
4) Market regulation.

The Summer school will be based on tested participatory methodology, including interactive discussions and case studies.
The topics will be analysed adopting an interdisciplinary approach, involving trainers from different disciplines and background.
The training material will be available on a devoted training platform.
The summer school will be held from 8 July to 17 July 2026 in a blended format: initial 3 days online (8-9-10 July) and the following 5 days (13-17 July) in presence.

Prof. Elisabetta Bergamini Full Professor of European Union Law at the University of Udine.

Target group

Undergraduate students, graduates who graduated no more than five years ago and PhD students, from faculties of Law, Economics, Political Science or International Relations intending to upgrade their knowledge and competences on the specific topics of the course.

A general knowledge of European Union Law is strongly recommended if not the School will provide appropriate teaching material in advance.

All the activities will be held in English. Therefore, participants are asked to be fluent in English in order to actively participate to the course.

Course aim

β€’ To offer a blended and intensive training, focusing on transnational developments at the EU level;
β€’ To promote the sharing of knowledge, experiences and practices between participants from different countries;
β€’ To help participants in developing incisive reasoning skills and other soft skills such as team working, problem solving and argumentative reasoning.

800 EUR, Deadline: 31 May 2026, 12:00 pm GMT. The tuition-fee will include accommodation costs in a single room at the University residence from 12 July to 18 July 2026 and ten meals at the University canteen.

700 EUR, Deadline: 30 April 2026, 12:00 pm GMT. Applications received before 30 April 2026, 12:00 pm GMT will benefit from the early-bird registration fee.
