This three-day course invites participants into an interdisciplinary and interactive space filled with elastic bands and looped structures—part artwork, part movement playground. As we move together, the environment shifts and reshapes, offering a constantly changing field for sensing, imagining, and creating.
Expanding Oskar Schlemmer’s Bauhaus explorations of body–space relations, we explore how we sense our bodies in space and in relation to one another through mutual support. Extending these spatial ideas, we move through connection—listening to the body’s mass and momentum, responding to subtle cues transmitted through the responsive elastic structures, and letting living geometries emerge through shared attention and collective unfolding.
Each afternoon brings hands-on exploration: we explore gentle movement that awakens sensitivity to balance, grounding, and shared spatial awareness—small shifts in weight while partnering or moving within trios and small groups; feeling tension and release through the elastic, finding rest, and receiving gentle support. By tuning in to the signals traveling through the shared material, we discover how movement becomes more responsive, more resilient, and inventive.
By the end of the course, participants will leave with new and practical ways for sensing space, working collaboratively, and using movement as a way to think, create, and explore. These embodied methods offer valuable insights for art, design, architecture, and the shaping of urban and landscape environments—where sensitivity to movement, space, relation, and form plays a vital role in shaping function.
No previous movement experience is needed. All bodies and physicalities are welcome — we’ll explore movement in ways that feel natural and inspiring for each person.
Please note: all elastic materials are made from natural rubber latex.
