About

FON Summer School 2023 is a five-day English-taught course hosted by Faculty of Organizational Sciences (FON) leading school for management and informatics at University of Belgrade. The main focus is understanding of full data science life cycle, from understanding business problem, data analysis, modelling, to applying the appropriate models to empower business strategies.

The course offers interactive and hands-on workshops on:

- data analysis and visualization using the SAS environment,
- application of statistics, business analytics, and computer intelligence in modelling diverse business problems,
- sales strategies and finance, advanced calculations for sales and business models.

In the final part, students will work on a team project in form of a business case presented by Carnex company to improve sales strategies driven by data.

Besides the time dedicated to workshops and teamwork, the summer school programme is developed to provide participants with opportunities for social activities, excursions, exploring Belgrade and its rich historical heritage, cultural, and entertainment offerings.

Course leader

The lecturers and workshops will be delivered by prominent professors of the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, proven experts in practice, company representatives and SAS certified educators and consultants.

Target group

The course is intended for final year undergraduates and master students with a Business, Management, Informatics background and similar STEM fields.

The summer school also welcomes students of other fields and backgrounds. Prior knowledge of data analysis is not necessary.

Course aim

The aim is to introduce students to basic concepts of data analysis, visualization and business problem modelling in a hands-on manner and to help them apply the acquired knowledge and skills on a company business case.

Participants will enhance data literacy and gain practical skills in data analysis, visualization and data-driven modelling of real business problems, but also upgrade their knowledge of finance and sales strategies, business models in the era of data-driven decision making.
