About

This introductory module will provide a comprehensive introduction to Digital Research for students from a range of backgrounds. Through a variety of interactive sessions students will develop an understanding of the key principles of Open Science and Scholarship, the importance of reproducibility and methods for managing research projects. The module serves as a platform for students to undertake digitally enabled research projects.

Target group

Applicants must have completed a minimum of one year of undergraduate study in any subject area by the time they enrol on the module.

Course aim

Upon successful completion of this module, students will:

- Explain the basic business transformation principles, framework as well as the technology and innovation driving the digital transformation
- Articulate the digital business transformation components in the upcoming smart cities using examples of organizations/ businesses across multiple sectors
- Assess the digital transformation strategies applied within the smart city models
- Analyse the drivers, benefits and challenges for a digital transformation strategy and apply these to build a valid business case for a real-life scenario such as driverless cars
- Develop critical thinking, business analysis, planning, communication and business writing skills
