About

This course is offered as part of the Radboud Summer School in Social Research Methods, in collaboration with MethodsNET (a global network that offers excellent training in social research methods).

The course will introduce discourse network analysis, a methodology that combines qualitative content analysis with social network analysis to measure policy debates and their development over time.

This PhD level course is open to all researchers aiming at bringing their research to the next level. It is particularly designed for those who want to measure political discourses or policy debates as temporal networks and analyse their complex structure.

Course aim

After this course you are able to:

-Code statements by political actors in text data using the software Discourse Network Analyzer (DNA).
-Export different kinds of networks from DNA, understand their differences, and analyze the data in visone and R.
-Connect discourse network analysis to your own research questions.
-Understand a variety of network analysis methods for use with DNA.
