Embracing Global Challenges in International Business

About

Birmingham is the birthplace of Industry Revolution. From the perspectives of economics and management studies, Birmingham stands for its rich heritage as well as the global challenges. The international business programme is designed for students to develop their understandings in theoretical frameworks commonly adopted in examination of international business issues.

You will be introduced to the various concepts and principles such as PESTEL and SWOT, and how they are applied to international businesses. You will also be introduced to the project and assigned to your group. As your project is about Birmingham, you will look at global companies that are locally based such as Jaguar Land Rover (Castle Bromwich plant) or Cadbury World – the leading international businesses based in Birmingham.

Course aim

This International Business course is designed to help you develop understanding and insights in business activities on a global scale. It provides the perspectives to examine business organisations within the current international economic, governmental, and social context. There are also introductions of contemporary theories in international business, dynamic approaches in international strategic management, as well as entrepreneurial analysis in a post-COVID era with deepening globalisation.
