Environmental physics : theory and instrumentation

About

Environmental physics is the study of physical properties of molecules, chemical bonds between atoms, molecular structure, dynamics and spectroscopy. It is a very important and lively research domain in France, both in theoretical and experimental aspects of molecular spectroscopy. This field has many applications in various disciplines: physics, chemistry, biology, earth and planet atmospheres, remote-sensing, astrophysics as well as industrial applications.

Course leader

Pascale Chelin Isabelle Kleiner

Target group

Environmental physics is dedicated to Master degree students (M1 and M2) and even doctoral (PhD) students. It could be open for Bachelor degree students (L3) with basic mathematic skills and particularly if they know some quantum physics or quantum chemistry.

Course aim

This course is addressed to a large variety of audience (physicists, chemists, biologists...) who want to acquire a general education in environmental physics. Courses will be given in English, by a pedagogical team consisting of a Directeur de recherches CNRS (Dr I. Kleiner) and a Maitre de Conférences at UPEC (Dr. P. Chelin) from the SPECAT team of the LISA laboratory. They are both deeply involved in the research at the international level and in many collaborations. Their research thematic is also highly related to the UPEC activities and related to the environment and spatial research.
