Experimental Silk-Screen Printing

Participants will learn silk-screen printing through the lens of drawing and painting in this approachable, experimental course. We’ll start with the basics of screen printing and monoprinting, then quickly open the doors to experimentation: blasting, spraying, scraping, dripping, mark-making, carving, stencilling. Together, we will shape and explore the medium at hand.
Participants can lose themselves in the alchemy of printmaking as they are introduced to the limitless possibilities the processes can offer. The working atmosphere in our studio is stimulating, generative, intensive and electric; anything feels possible. We will promote a hands-on, energetic approach with regular group discussions and one-on-one tutorials, allowing us to exchange ideas and vitalize each other so that our work can evolve.
Participants are encouraged to break away from traditional printmaking norms, expanding the process with hand-applied techniques and discovering their own printmaking language.

Target group

Requirements:
Readiness to develop and try new, experimental ways of printmaking; you must be willing to both work and share ideas in a group and work autonomously!
What to bring:
Drawing utensils, preferred flat supports for silk-screen printing (canvases, wood, paper and fabrics), image material connected with personal artistic work.
