Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be a major driver to reach the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), however, it often catches attention through disadvantageous behavior towards or even discrimination of marginalized and underrepresented people. With a focus on feminist principles in the design, data, and regulation of AI, AI can be crucial for the empowerment of Human Rights. While discussing the dark side of AI, we will focus on a positive narrative and on how we can make a meaningful impact for society.
In this program we will focus on why AI is behaving unequally, what Feminist AI can do to change this, develop ideas how these aspects can be integrated in curriculums, what examples we find of discriminatory AI, and reflect on our experiences as women in a male-dominated field.
The program will be divided into lectures, case studies, discussions, and workshop formats. There will be space for developing own questions, ideas, and to connect with like-minded peers. The ultimate achievement of this program would be the creation of teams that continue the discussions in projects, papers, events, or exchange circles in the future.
